Santo Domingo. –República Dominicana alcanzó un récord en llegadas durante el primer trimestre de este año, al recibir 3 millones 348 mil 716 visitantes, lo que representa un crecimiento del 4 % respecto al mismo período del 2024 y un 16 % en comparación con 2023, informó el ministro de Turismo, David Collado.
Indicó que en relación con 2019, esta cantidad representa un histórico incremento de más de un millón de visitantes.
"Pese a la incertidumbre en el panorama mundial, que ha afectado el flujo turístico internacional, nuestro turismo sigue fuerte, registrando un notable incremento en los primeros tres meses de este 2025 con relación al mismo periodo de años anteriores", destacó el ministro Collado.
Dijo que solo por vía aérea el país recibió 2,320,725 turistas entre enero y marzo de este año.
Aunque esta cantidad implica una leve disminución del 0.6% en relación con 2024, representa un aumento del 12 % frente al primer trimestre de 2023 y un crecimiento de 24 % respecto a 2019.
Cabe destacar que esos resultados interanuales estuvieron influenciados por factores estacionales como el año bisiesto (febrero de 2025 tuvo un día menos que en 2024) y el calendario de Semana Santa (que en 2024 se celebró en marzo, a diferencia de esta Semana Mayor).
Turismo de crucero en su mejor momento
El mayor dinamismo de visitantes en el primer trimestre de este año provino del turismo de cruceros.
Durante el período enero-marzo del 2025, el país recibió 1,027,991 cruceristas, lo que representa un incremento del 15 % con respecto al año pasado, un 27 % en comparación con 2023 y un crecimiento del 167 % frente a los niveles prepandemia del 2019.
También en los primeros tres meses del año, el país recibió 18,473 vuelos comerciales (con una ocupación general de asientos del 76%), así como 367 operaciones de cruceros.
De igual forma la industria hotelera registró una ocupación promedio de 81%, con la zona de Punta Cana–Bávaro a la cabeza con un 89% de ocupación y La Romana con un 85% de todas las habitaciones disponibles.
